Events Involving Athletic Activities
Sponsors hosting events that include athletic activities with an elevated level of injury risk (i.e., 5K races, dodgeball tournaments, etc…) are required to do the following:
- Ensure adult participants read and sign an Assumption of Risk and Hold Harmless Agreement. Please retain the signed copies for at least 3 years.
- Ensure parents / guardians read and sign Parental Permission and Hold Harmless Agreement on behalf of their child (anyone not yet 18-years-old and not an enrolled Cornell student. Please retain the signed copies for at least 3 years.
- Review the Concussion Signs and Symptoms Checklist
Dangerous Activities
Cornell prioritizes the safety of its community and has established regulations to mitigate risks associated with potentially dangerous activities. To ensure the well-being of all participants, the following activities are strictly prohibited:
- Mechanical Bulls (or activities posing a risk of neck or spinal injuries)
- Extreme Sports
- Ice Climbing
- Bungee Jumping
- Parkouring
- Shooting projectiles or using weapon facsimiles
